Most independent restaurants don’t have a training department. What they have is a binder nobody reads, a folder of old memos, or “ask so-and-so, they’ve been here the longest.” After nearly thirty years in this industry, from server to general manager, I built Ready Set Service™ to fix that.

Every card has two sides. The front teaches the habit in plain language with real floor examples. The back gives any manager the reasoning and ready-made responses to pushback, so training doesn’t depend on me, or you, being in the room.

The inspiration for Ready Set Service™ comes from nearly thirty years of firsthand experience in the restaurant industry. After working every role from server to general manager, I came to realize that the biggest challenge wasn’t hiring, scheduling, or even sales. The real challenge was consistency. In the middle of constant turnover and the chaos of busy shifts, training often slipped through the cracks. New hires were left to figure things out on their own, while seasoned team members rarely received the refreshers they needed.
That is why I created Ready Set Service™. It is built for the real world: fast, practical, and effective. It helps teams grow without demanding hours of extra training. Because building better habits doesn’t require reinventing the schedule, it just takes the right rhythm.
